Flock of Shovelers

A flock of Northern Shovelers, Blue-winged Teals, and a lone Wood Duck have been calling a flooded out cornfield home.

Their aerial display was really cool to see. They flushed as I approached with my car, but turned around pretty quickly for these shots. I didn't even notice the wood duck until processing.

I so agree with Barb, stopping, reaching for camera, FINDING WHAT YOU WANT in the lens..and then getting a good pic on top of all that..definitely difficult in my opinion!! You experienced birders!!! ...always raising the bar...for we inexperienced!! lol
You did good!!!
Enlarged your second pic as
I've never seen a wood duck in flight before..guess I expected him to be somewhat more colorful under body as he is on top!! Learn..learn..learn!

How fun to be back and catching up on all of your blog posts I missed. The first inflight shot here is simply amazing - you are very talented with the camera.

The ducks, woodducks, pheasants & snipes made my day ;)

Great photos! I just started photographing the birds at my bird feeder yesterday. It has been great fun. I'll have to get a book to identify them all. I don't know much about birds.
