Warbler Weekend! Woo-Hoo!

It was the weekend I have been waiting for...

This posts photos were all taken in one spot. It was an amazing weekend with the birds coming to me for once. I stayed for hours each day, giving way for new-to-me species every day!

Another warbler I did not include in this post is the Prothonotary Warbler which was a complete thrill! I have so many photos that I am proud of, that I am saving it for tomorrow's post.

Birds I saw, but did not photo: Balt. Oriole, Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks, Indigo Bunting, Kinglet.

Gray Catbird

I really liked the fine detail on the feathers of this Catbird.

Note: I set a goal of blogging every day for a month and this is my 31st post. Mission Accomplished! I don't know if I could capture enough fresh images for blogging in any other month than in May. It was a great month for nature photography.

Gray Catbird

The Gray Catbirds were abundant at my secret spot in Channahon Park. A few flew in & landed just a few feet away. It always surprises me when they do that.


A secretive, but curious skulker of dense thickets, the Gray Catbird is heard more than it is seen. Its rambling song contains imitations of other bird songs, but the characteristic "mew" that gives it its name is not an imitation and sounds only vaguely cat-like. (Source: All About Birds)
