Northern Mockingbird

Such a fascinating bird to listen to and watch fly as its wings white patches catch your eye and admire its beauty. This guy hunted bugs along the fence line. Lock Rd, Grundy County

Tree Frogs

One of the best sounds of Spring is these guys singing to each other. Trying to find one is quite the hunt in a forest full of hiding places. I always search, but NEVER find them. I got lucky the other day finding 2. My first 2 finds EVER in a completely natural setting.

2 Bitterns 2 Days

Two Bitterns in 2 days...What? Yep! Got lucky twice! American Bitterns are stocky and a well-camouflaged heron of dense reed beds, they are difficult to see. Their far-carrying booming call is distinctive, but the bittern itself likes to keep under cover.

Baltimore Orioles are back and in abundance! Named because their colors are similar to those on the coat of arms of famous politician Lord Baltimore. Another cool fact is that Baltimore Orioles build unique, sock-like hanging nests.

Your Opinion Requested

Fun with photoshop! I took a survey on Facebook to see what non-photographers thought and they overwhelmingly chose the original color version. I fancy the fancier b&w with a color emphasis on the goslings but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What do my photographer buddies think?

Wood Duck Drake

Found a great puddle in the woods with awesome filtered lighting and a very handsome drake to make these images. Wood ducks are one of my faves to photo. So secretive, extremely hard to get close to without flushing and wonderfully decorated in brilliant colors!

White-faced Ibis

Quality-wise, not my best, but I had to share this extremely rare treat! White-faced Ibis are awesome! Look at those long curved bills! Amazing creatures and a stopover visit near Wilmington made my day! Although they were not in the best lighting situation for photography, seeing these unusual creatures was worth it. Usually seen in Florida, these guys graced the town of Wilmington with their presence for just a few hours!
