The Ring-necked Pheasant was introduced into North America from Asia and is established over much of the continent, especially in agricultural lands. It is a distinctive and colorful species and is a popular game bird.
I found a family of at least 6 chicks with both parents protecting them.

Don't know how I missed this post. I swear some of the posts from various blogs aren't there, then I go look again the next day, and there's all sorts of posts I've missed! Your Pheasant photos are really nice, but that Rooster shot is superb!
ReplyDeleteSuperb shots, Peggy. I have stocked a lot of pheasants for the PGC, but I have never seen a flock of the young in the wild. When I first began photographing back int he early 1970s I saw a lot of adults (mostly the cockbirds) standing along the road in the spring, but they must not survive over winter much any more in our area as I seldom see them.
ReplyDeletewow these are fantastic shots of a beautiful family... Lucky you... I've never been able to catch one of this feasant with my camera! Well done.
ReplyDeleteI've move my blog to my site now, that's why you have a new address ;-)
Cheers, Chris.
