In addition to the Bobolinks, the Dickcissels have made their way back! In flight Dickcissels make a low, "electric", buzzing fpppt. From an open perch in a field, this bird's song is a sharp dick dick followed by a buzzed cissel, also transcribed as skee-dlees chis chis chis or dick dick ciss ciss ciss

Great shots! I particularly like the last one where it's flying right toward you, with those gorgeous fans of wings.
ReplyDeleteAmazing shots. This bird reminds me of a MEadowlark only smaller.

These are amazing - especially the last one when that beauty is coming right toward us in the photo! Beautiful captures!!!
ReplyDeleteHow neat. I see them, bobolinks and meadowlarks as I bike through the restored prairie near us.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. I lveo the two last ones. They are very dynamic and very sharp!!
ReplyDeleteThe one and only Dicksissel I ever saw was in Central Park and he was in the grass so I didn't get to see all his parts as you did. Great capture Hannibal.
ReplyDeleteI love the action shots.
