Macro Monarch

Birding has been quite slow, so insects have been the focus lately. The milkweed blooms are still producing plenty of food for butterflies. This time of the year is great for Monarchs, which are starting to hatch from their cocoons.

Wow... This is a fantastic shot, well composed, sharp and with beautiful colors. This butterfly is wonderful. Well done.

The monarchs have begun showing up around here quite a bit. Beautiful picture!

How beautiful! Would you believe me if I told you that I have never seen a monarch before? I've seen yellow butterflies that look very similar, but never an orange one. Such a pretty picture. I love the bokeh in this photo, how the blue and green seem to blend into each other.

I haven't seen a Monarch for a couple of years...

I love the background on this one.
