I was suckered again. My chin is touching my chest and I am doing the Charlie Brown (cue the sad music...) walk of shame. Take a look:
I've photo'd this "cat" before, about 2 years ago in this general area of a state natural area. I thought it was a bobcat. (Check my tag roll under fake bobcat) I AGAIN thought it was a bobcat yesterday. Let me explain. He was a gray blob as I was passing by. I put it in reverse to get another look. Bobcat!...no...boring cat...wait...it's got prey...cool cat...it's eating a squirrel...Wow!...Look at those penetrating eyes...gotta be a feral cat...HUGE feral cat...gotta be 25 pounds...poor guy...its so cold...look at that thick heavy coat...I saw him before...2 years ago...he's obviously doing well to survive this long...Good luck Kitty!
...So I tried to will him into a bobcat...
It didn't work. I still have hope...
Some day, Mr. Bob-Elusive-Cat...Some day...
It is considered wildlife photography when the cat is wild, right? I think so...
Hey, he looks pretty wild to me! Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty and like a wildcat to me ;-) Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteI actually did get to photograph a bobcat once, but nothing worked right and I may as well not even have taken the pictures. It was in film days and I had a 170-500 sigma on the camera shooting ISO 800 print film. Had I had a 70-200mmf2.8 things would have been much better as the encounter was at less than 20 yards. Hopefully you will get the chance someday, but until then you can still say you got a "wildcat".
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteReally very nice pictures. The cat has a look at it as if it had got up on the wrong foot. 1x photogenic and then not again.
A really wild cat right out in nature. Lots greetings from Germany

Big smile! I do a similar thing pretending turkey vultures are CA condors. I really want to see a bobcat, too, and have been making a virtual collection from blogs so that I know exactly what they look like if I should ever actually see one: http://othernatureid.blogspot.com/2010/09/list-o-links-of-bobcats.html
