Birding has been quite slow, so insects have been the focus lately. The milkweed blooms are still producing plenty of food for butterflies. This time of the year is great for Monarchs, which are starting to hatch from their cocoons.

Wow... This is a fantastic shot, well composed, sharp and with beautiful colors. This butterfly is wonderful. Well done.
ReplyDeletePhoto of the Day Hannibal, no doubt about it!

The monarchs have begun showing up around here quite a bit. Beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Would you believe me if I told you that I have never seen a monarch before? I've seen yellow butterflies that look very similar, but never an orange one. Such a pretty picture. I love the bokeh in this photo, how the blue and green seem to blend into each other.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely portrait of the Monarch.

A beauty captured so well!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a Monarch for a couple of years...
ReplyDeleteI love the background on this one.
